LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command confirms the dismissal of four police officers over their alleged involvement in the killing of seven traders in Owode-Onirin, Lagos.
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, announces the disciplinary action on Thursday while addressing reporters at the Police Officers’ Mess in Ikeja.
Jimoh says the officers are linked to the incident through the principal suspect identified as Ariori, who allegedly brought them from Nasarawa State.
He assures the public that investigations into the killings are ongoing and nearing completion.
“This matter has not been swept under the carpet. We want the families of the victims to know that justice will be done,” Jimoh says.
According to him, ballistic and autopsy reports are guiding the prosecution process as investigators work to establish accountability.
“We will leave no stone unturned and will not be intimidated by anyone,” the police commissioner adds.
Jimoh notes that 98 percent of the investigation has been completed, with suspects expected to face prosecution in court.
The commissioner reiterates the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to uphold law and order and ensure justice for victims.
“All suspects will be prosecuted, and the courts remain open to hear every case,” he says.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the killings occurred in August 2025 during a violent clash between land grabbers and traders in the Owode-Onirin area of Lagos State.
Jimoh urges residents and traders to remain vigilant while assuring them that the police are determined to protect lives and property.
