ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s police deploy specialised tactical units to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly attack that leaves 75 people confirmed dead, authorities say.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Benjamin Hundeyin says Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun strongly condemns the assault and expresses condolences to bereaved families and the Kwara State Government.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains fully committed to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property,” Hundeyin says.
The Inspector-General orders the immediate deployment of tactical teams, intelligence units and operational assets to Kaiama and surrounding communities to restore calm, reinforce security and prevent further violence.
Police confirm that a comprehensive manhunt is underway to identify, track and arrest those responsible for the attack and any accomplices.
“All available intelligence and operational resources have been activated to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Hundeyin says.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with security agencies coordinating closely to stabilise the area and reassure residents.
The police appeal to the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information through the nearest police station or official channels.
“The perpetrators of this heinous act will not escape justice,” Hundeyin says, reaffirming the Force’s resolve to maintain peace and security nationwide.
The attack marks one of the deadliest incidents in Kwara State in recent years, raising renewed concerns over rural security and community safety.
