LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a private security guard, Amos Kini, for allegedly abducting a two-year-old boy and demanding a ₦5 million ransom.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the incident, saying the abduction occurred on 21 September 2025 in the Elemoro area of Lagos.
“The suspect disappeared with the child and the mother’s mobile phone around 11:50 p.m.
He later used the stolen phone to demand ransom from the boy’s father,” Adebisi explained.
Officers from the Elemoro Division launched a rapid operation, forcing Kini to release the child unharmed. Days later, the Tactical Squad, codenamed Hyena, tracked and arrested him at his hideout in Elemoro.
Police said Kini confessed and remains in custody pending prosecution. His guarantor, Aruna Dauda, was also questioned.
Lagos Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh condemned the act, warning that the command would deal firmly with criminality.
“The safety of Lagosians, especially children, remains our top priority,” he said, urging residents to report suspicious activity.
