JOS, Nigeria – The Plateau State Specialist Hospital has dismissed reports of tension over an alleged terrorist plot to abduct healthcare workers, insisting that the facility remains safe and fully operational.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, hospital management clarified that a widely circulated memo warning of a possible security threat had been misinterpreted.
“The circular referenced in the report was strictly an internal communication and part of routine security briefings issued to staff,” the statement, signed by Public Relations Officer Talatu Achan Angi, said.
According to the hospital, the advisory was intended to encourage vigilance among personnel amid broader security concerns, not to signal an imminent threat.
“There is no form of tension within the hospital. Staff and patients are carrying out their normal activities, and all clinical services are proceeding without disruption,” the statement added.
The clarification follows public anxiety triggered by a leaked April 13 memo suggesting intelligence on a potential abduction plot targeting medical workers.
“The hospital remains safe, fully operational, and committed to providing quality healthcare services,” management said, encouraging patients to continue accessing care without fear.
