ONDO, Nigeria – The Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency has entered a strategic collaboration with the 32 Artillery Brigade Command, Akure to boost statewide mobilisation for the 2026 Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign.
During an advocacy visit on Monday, the Agency’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Francis Akanbiemu, represented by the Director of Disease Control and Immunisation, Dr. Victor Adefesoye, said the campaign will target children aged 9 months to 14 years across all health facilities and outreach points.
He appealed to the military to assist in dispelling misinformation, stressing that the vaccines are “thoroughly tested, safe, and effective.”
Dr. Akanbiemu also requested support in providing escort to hard-to-reach communities and in helping create public awareness.
“The military formations play vital roles in ensuring full and equitable coverage,” he added.
Responding, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General J.A. Ifeanyi, represented by Captain (Dr.) Olayemi Ilori, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to community health.
“We are already sensitising personnel and will support the teams in security-challenged areas,” he stated.
He emphasised that vaccination remains one of the most effective public health interventions, pledging support to counter rumours and ensure successful implementation.
