ENUGU, Nigeria – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 42 personnel to secure examination centres during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in Enugu State.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Pamela Chukwu,on Wednesday the deployment is aimed at ensuring a safe and incident-free examination process.
A total of 21 Computer-Based Test centres has been designated across the state, with two officers assigned to each centre and additional mobile teams positioned across operational zones.
The State Commandant, Elijah Willie, has directed officers to maintain professionalism, strict supervision and vigilance throughout the examination period.
Authorities said the security measures are designed to prevent malpractice, restrict unauthorised access and safeguard candidates and officials.
The UTME, conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, is scheduled to hold nationwide from April 16 to April 25.
Security agencies have intensified coordination to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise amid growing concerns over examination integrity and safety.
Experts say robust security presence remains critical to maintaining public confidence in Nigeria’s examination system.
The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to proactive security operations and urged officers to remain disciplined and alert.
