ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Railway Corporation introduces special train services across major routes to ease travel pressure ahead of Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement on Wednesday, NRC says the temporary schedule aims to ensure “seamless, safe, and efficient” transportation during the festive surge.
Additional trips are scheduled on key routes, including Lagos–Ibadan and Abuja–Kaduna corridors.
“For Lagos–Ibadan, three special trips will run on March 19 from both ends,” the agency states, listing multiple departure times from Ebute Metta and Moniya stations.
On the Abuja–Kaduna line, two trips will operate on March 19, increasing to three daily services from March 20 to March 23.
The NRC also confirms a partnership with the Osun State Government to run the “Imole Special Train,” offering free travel from Lagos to Osogbo.
“This service is fully sponsored to support citizens during the festive season,” the statement notes.
Meanwhile, existing routes such as Warri–Itakpe and Port Harcourt–Aba will maintain regular operations.
The corporation urges passengers to plan ahead and comply with travel and security procedures.
“We remain committed to safe and reliable rail services,” NRC adds.
