ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a scheduled technical maintenance shutdown of its Passport Digital Platform, expected to temporarily disrupt online passport services from 12:00am on 12 December to 6:00am on 14 December 2025 (GMT).
In a public notice from the NIS headquarters in Abuja on Friday, the agency said the upgrade is necessary to enhance platform stability and user experience. The service warned that applicants may encounter slow loading times, restricted access, or complete downtime during the maintenance window.
“This maintenance is essential to sustaining a reliable, secure, and efficient digital passport ecosystem,” the statement said. It added that technical teams are working around the clock to ensure timely completion.
Citizens experiencing difficulties were directed to email support@immigration.gov.ng or contact the NIS through social media handles @nigimmigration on X (Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook. Additional support is available via the 24-hour Contact Centre lines: 09121900655, 09121556359, and 09121477092.
The notice, e-signed by ACI AS Akinlabi, Service Public Relations Officer, urged the public to be patient, emphasising that the temporary inconvenience will result in improved service delivery.
