ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigeria visa application process in the United States has changed after the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) indefinitely suspended the operations of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres in the US.
The suspension takes effect from July 1, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi.
The decision effects visa applicants in the United States, including Nigerians and foreign nationals seeking entry visas to Nigeria.
Akinlabi said all applicants must now submit visa applications directly through the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta.
He said the suspension would remain in force until further notice.
The Immigration Service clarified that the directive applies only to physical visa submissions at Nigerian diplomatic missions in the United States.
“The suspension does not affect Nigeria’s electronic visa system. Applicants can continue to apply for e-Visas through the official online portal,” Akinlabi said.
He added that the NIS has put alternative arrangements in place to ensure the seamless submission, processing and issuance of visas despite the suspension of the Visa Application Centres.
Applicants were advised to monitor official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the United States for further updates on visa application procedures.
Akinlabi thanked applicants for their understanding and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to efficient and transparent service delivery.
