ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Examinations Council (NECO) has warned the public against fake online portals recruiting examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), saying the platforms are fraudulent and designed to extort unsuspecting applicants.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Azeez Sani, NECO said the fake portals demand payment and personal credentials from applicants, which the council does not require under any circumstances.
“NECO does not request for any payment from teachers applying to serve as examination supervisors in the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal,” the statement said.
The council said it has fully migrated to an electronic recruitment system in line with recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria.
Under the new system, qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, aged 30 years and above, are required to apply directly through the official portal: https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng.
NECO stressed that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not involve third parties.
“The recruitment process on its website is fully automated, and no third party is required,” it added.
The examination body said the digital transition is aimed at strengthening supervision, reducing fraud, curbing examination malpractice and improving transparency in the conduct of national examinations.
No fewer than 22,000 supervisors are expected to be recruited nationwide for the 2026 SSCE Internal, scheduled to begin on 15 June 2026.
The council urged applicants and members of the public to rely only on its official website for verified information and warned against engaging with fraudulent platforms.
NECO also called on security agencies and stakeholders to support efforts to track and dismantle the operators of fake recruitment portals.
