MINNA, Nigeria – The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, less than two months after the final paper.
Announcing the results in Minna on Tuesday, NECO Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, says 68,166 candidates, representing 71.63 per cent, secure at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
A total of 96,979 candidates initially register for the examination, while 95,160 eventually sit for the papers across 16 subjects.
According to NECO, 78.32 per cent of candidates who sit for English Language achieve credit passes and above, while Mathematics records a higher success rate, with 91.35 per cent obtaining credits.
Overall, 86.26 per cent of candidates secure five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.
On examination malpractice, Wushishi reports 9,016 cases, marking a 31.7 per cent increase compared with 2024.
“Five supervisors have been barred for their roles in examination irregularities,” he says, adding that four centres have been recommended for derecognition due to large-scale malpractice.
The 2025 SSCE External runs from November 26 to December 13, with marking conducted in January 2026.
Wushishi thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for continued support, noting that the external examination provides candidates with opportunities for higher education locally and abroad.
