BENIN CITY, Nigeria – Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seize cannabis worth over ₦724 million and arrest five suspects in Edo State.
Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju says the operation intercepts 483 bags weighing 7,245 kilograms.
The drugs are concealed in two trucks typically used for transporting beverages.
“The seizure prevents a large quantity of illicit drugs from reaching consumers,” he says.
Suspects, aged between 21 and 35, are arrested and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities say the consignment originates from Owan West and is bound for Abuja.
The agency describes the bust as a major breakthrough in dismantling trafficking networks.
NDLEA urges public cooperation in providing intelligence to combat drug crimes.
