ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority says it will officially launch its Drone and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems portal during the 6th Africa International Drone Technology Conference and Exhibition, DroneTecX 2026, in Lagos State.
The conference is scheduled to be held from May 12 to 16 at the NIGAV Expo Centre located within Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the digital platform is expected to streamline drone regulation and improve operational efficiency across Nigeria’s growing drone industry.
The authority says the portal will simplify processes including drone registration, operator certification, ownership transfers, incident reporting and compliance management.
“The new digital portal consolidates the entire application and approval lifecycle into a single, user-friendly platform,” the statement says.
Operators will also be able to upload safety documentation and monitor application status in real time under the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.
The NCAA encourages drone operators, technology stakeholders and service providers to explore the platform ahead of its formal rollout through NCAA RPAS Portal.
Industry experts say the initiative could reduce bureaucratic delays, improve regulatory transparency and accelerate innovation within Nigeria’s emerging drone technology sector.
DroneTecX 2026 is expected to bring together aviation regulators, drone operators, technology companies and investors to discuss the future of unmanned aerial systems across Africa.
