ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s aviation regulator awards aerodrome certificates to Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and Port Harcourt International Airport, following extensive safety audits.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) presents the certificates on Friday in Abuja, marking compliance with international aviation standards.
FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku says the certification follows months of inspections, corrective actions and regulatory reviews. “This success shows what is possible when regulators and operators work together in the national interest,” Kuku says.
She commends the NCAA, led by Captain Chris Najomo, for technical rigour and transparency throughout the process.
Kuku assures that FAAN will address outstanding issues identified by the regulator, stressing that certification requires continuous improvement.
Airport staff at both facilities are praised for professionalism and commitment to safety benchmarks.
