DUTSE, Nigeria — Nigeria’s anti-trafficking agency reunites 11 trafficked children with their families in Jigawa State following intelligence-led rescue operations.
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) on Sunday handed over the victims — all boys aged between seven and 15 — to Ringim Local Government authorities during a meeting in Dutse.
NAPTIP Commander in Jigawa State, Abdulkadir Turajo, says operatives rescue the children in Lokoja, Kogi State. “The victims are from Tsaba, Kunkurawa and Tsabare villages, and their safe return reflects strong inter-agency cooperation,” Turajo says through the agency’s Head of Operations, Yunusa Mohammed.
The Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development facilitates the handover to ensure smooth reintegration.
Ringim Local Government Chairman Badamasi Garba commends NAPTIP’s intervention and pledges continued support for rehabilitation and prevention. “We will strengthen local measures to stop future trafficking and protect our children,” he assures.
NAPTIP reiterates its commitment to nationwide efforts in rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of trafficking victims.
