ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Air Force destroys a fortified ISWAP enclave in Kangarwa, Lake Chad Basin, killing scores of fighters and crippling insurgent logistics in a precision airstrike operation.
The strike, carried out around 12:05 pm on April 1, was executed under Operation HADIN KAI following weeks of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions targeting the террорист network.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame on Friday said multiple attack runs hit key structures, logistics hubs, and concealed positions used to coordinate attacks.
“The strikes were highly effective, delivering direct hits on operational shelters and logistics infrastructure,” he states.
Military sources say the bombardment significantly weakens ISWAP’s command structure, limiting its ability to move fighters, resupply units, and plan attacks.
Chief of the Air Staff Sunday Aneke reaffirms commitment to intelligence-led operations aimed at eliminating terrorist strongholds.
The operation is expected to enable ground troops to advance into the area and conduct clearance missions across the Northern Tumbuns, a known insurgent hideout in Borno State.
Security analysts say the strike marks a tactical gain but caution that sustained operations will be required to secure long-term stability in the Lake Chad region.
