ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Business and Technical Examinations Board has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination into technical colleges across Nigeria.
The board announced on Sunday that registration would now close on May 31, while the examination earlier scheduled for June 6 has been moved to June 13.
According to NABTEB’s Assistant Director of Media and Protocol, Mr Uchechukwu Olisah, the adjustment followed approval by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Mohammed, after appeals from prospective candidates seeking additional time to complete registration.
“With the new arrangement, candidates now have until May 31 to complete registration, while the examination will be held on June 13,” the statement said.
The entrance examination is conducted annually for students seeking admission into technical colleges nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
Dr Mohammed urged candidates and parents to take advantage of the extension period to complete all necessary registration processes before the new deadline expires.
Education stakeholders say technical and vocational education remains critical to addressing youth unemployment and expanding skilled manpower for Nigeria’s industrial growth.
