LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) partially demolishes a distressed building in Oshodi-Isolo after occupants ignore repeated evacuation notices.
The agency says the structure, located on Oladele Odusanya Street, poses imminent danger following months of monitoring. “The building remains under strict surveillance due to its highly distressed condition,” LASBCA states, citing soaked support pillars caused by a burst water pipe.
Officials say evacuation notices issued from March 2025 go unheeded, leaving the agency with no alternative. “With the condition worsening and occupants refusing to vacate, partial demolition becomes unavoidable,” LASBCA adds.
The agency urges Lagos residents to comply with safety directives to prevent avoidable tragedies.
