LAGOS, Nigeria – Mobility platform Lagride has launched Lagride Omni, a low-cost, air-conditioned shared-ride bus service designed to improve group transportation for workers, students, religious organisations, and daily commuters across Lagos.
In a statement signed by the company’s Chairman on Thursday, Diana Chen, Lagride described the new service as “a safer, cleaner, and more coordinated alternative to the informal Korope minibuses that Lagos commuters rely on.”
The Omni buses, which can carry up to six passengers, are equipped with GPS tracking and operated by professionally certified drivers trained through the Lagride Academy in partnership with the Lagos State Government, LASTMA, and traffic safety agencies.
“Mobility is one of the greatest drivers of opportunity,” Chen said. “By making modern transport affordable and accessible, Lagride is building a more connected Lagos where movement supports productivity and community.”
Lagride said early demand has been strong, especially among daily workers seeking cheaper alternatives to ride-hailing taxis.
The shared-ride model allows passengers to enjoy convenience without multiple roadside stops, offering point-to-point travel.
To support expansion, Lagride announced plans to recruit 1,000 new drivers, all of whom will undergo screening, training, and certification under the academy’s professional standards.
