LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government has announced temporary traffic diversions ahead of the Cycology X Itel Tour de Nigeria Cycling Race scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
The event, which will run from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., will cover a 60-kilometre route across major highways in the state.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who disclosed the details in a post on X on Saturday, the race will begin at Dolphin Loop, move through Osborne Road, Ring Road, and Third Mainland Bridge, extend to Iyana Oworo, Gbagada Expressway, Oshodi Oke, and reach the MMIA Underbridge before cyclists return to finish at Dolphin Estate.
Osiyemi advised motorists travelling from Ikeja to Victoria Island to make use of Ikorodu Road and Funsho Williams Avenue to connect Eko Bridge.
He also directed motorists from Mowe and Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to divert through Ojota Slip Road to Ikorodu Road and proceed via Funsho Williams Avenue to access Eko Bridge.
He clarified that the Third Mainland Bridge would remain open, but movement would be regulated to allow cyclists safe passage. Side roads along the route will be opened intermittently as the race progresses.
Osiyemi assured that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and the Nigeria Police would be deployed to manage traffic flow and ensure public safety.
He urged motorists to plan their travel early and remain patient during the temporary diversions. “No road will be completely closed. Movement will be allowed periodically,” he said.
