LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government has announced plans to launch the Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System (TIRS) in February 2026, aimed at increasing transparency, accountability and efficiency in telecom infrastructure development across the state.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), Prince Oyekanmi Elegushi, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, said the platform will ensure that all telecommunication installations, including masts, towers and fibre-optic cable rights-of-way, comply with state standards.
Elegushi said the system will streamline the permit process and reduce direct human engagement. “The implementation of the Telecommunication Infrastructure Regulatory System (TIRS) is expected to significantly enhance transparency and accountability, minimising human interaction by 99 per cent,” he stated.
Under the new system, companies will submit permit applications digitally, eliminating the need for in-person visits.
LASIMRA has completed internal training programmes to ensure all staff understand the operational requirements of the platform.
Elegushi said the initiative aligns with Lagos State’s goal of building an enabling environment for infrastructure investment. He added that TIRS will play a key role in improving regulatory compliance, service delivery and digital connectivity.
“The launch of TIRS will mark a major step forward in creating a sustainable and business-friendly telecommunications ecosystem in Lagos State,” he said.
