LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government announces a full closure of the Epe-bound carriageway of the Lekki–Ajah Expressway to allow extensive rehabilitation along one of the city’s busiest corridors.
The closure stretches from Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge in Ajah, according to the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi says the move enables uninterrupted construction at key intersections. Traffic is diverted to the Lagos-bound carriageway under a lane-sharing system.
“Between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., two lanes serve Lagos-bound traffic,” Osiyemi says. “From 3:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., priority shifts to Epe-bound vehicles.”
Motorists are advised to use the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road where possible. Officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and tow trucks are deployed to manage flow and emergencies.
Night operations will involve temporary intersection closures for up to eight hours during asphalt works. Rehabilitation proceeds in phases from Admiralty Way through VGC to Jubilee Bridge.
