Lagos Hospital Launches Probe into Patient’s Death, Urges Public Against Speculation

LAGOS, Nigeria – A Lagos-based medical facility has launched an internal investigation into the death of a patient, pledging transparency while urging the public to avoid speculation.
The management of St Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital confirmed that a comprehensive clinical review is underway following the death of Mrs. Faith Odaodu-Korode.
In a statement, the hospital expressed condolences to the bereaved family, describing the loss as deeply saddening.
It stated that the review is being conducted in line with standard medical protocols to ensure a thorough, objective, and fair assessment of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Patient safety and quality of care remain our top priorities. We are committed to learning from every clinical outcome and strengthening our systems,” the management said.
The hospital also confirmed ongoing engagement with the deceased’s family as part of its response.
Amid widespread reactions online, the facility appealed for restraint, urging the public to allow due process to take its course.
“We respectfully urge the public to refrain from speculation out of respect for the family and the integrity of the review process,” the statement added.
