LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos lawmaker Temitope Adewale provides free eye tests and prescribed eyeglasses to 750 residents of Ifako-Ijaiye during the JIGI-JAH 3.0 Health and Wellness Initiative, the third edition of his constituency outreach.
The three-day medical mission also offers screenings for hypertension, HIV and other health conditions.
Adewale says the programme aims to enhance community health in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “We have free screening and free treatment for our people, and we have not stopped, and we won’t stop,” he says.
He reveals that the initiative has supplied 1,250 free eyeglasses and facilitated free health insurance for 3,500 residents since its launch. The lawmaker assures constituents of continued representation and support. “We’ll keep giving our best to deliver the dividends of democracy,” he adds.
Programme Coordinator of the Omodada Foundation, Miss Adenine Adebayo, says the outreach is non-partisan and open to all age groups. “Since 2023, both children and older residents have benefited,” she notes.
APC auditor Mr Gbenga Agoye commends Adewale’s service, saying beneficiaries are prioritised strictly based on need. One recipient, Mrs Sidikat Atoro, expresses gratitude, calling the programme “a blessing from God”.
Medications for various eye conditions are distributed as the outreach continues through Thursday and Friday.
