LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State has launched a digital platform for building permit applications, allowing property developers and homeowners to process approvals entirely online.
The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) introduces the Electronic Physical Planning Permit Processing System (EPPPS) to modernise planning approvals and eliminate lengthy manual procedures.
LASPPPA General Manager Kehinde Osinaike announces the new system in a statement on Thursday.
He says the platform will allow applicants to submit documents, track approvals and complete permit processing without visiting government offices.
According to Osinaike, each application submitted through the portal will undergo compliance checks against Lagos building codes and zoning regulations.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who commissions the system, says the initiative aligns with his administration’s push to digitise public services and improve governance efficiency.
Urban planners say the reform comes at a crucial time as Lagos experiences rapid urbanisation and rising housing demand.
Experts have long identified slow approval processes as a major factor driving informal construction without regulatory oversight.
By digitising the approval process, officials say the state hopes to improve transparency, speed up building permits and encourage developers to follow legal planning channels.
Osinaike urges property developers, investors and homeowners to begin using the portal immediately.
Authorities believe the digital system will reduce bureaucratic delays and help ensure safer and more orderly urban development across Lagos.
