KWARA, Nigeria – The Kwara State Government says it remains committed to strengthening human resources in the health sector through continuous training of competent healthcare professionals.
Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina El-Imam, made the assurance on Saturday in Shao, Moro Local Government Area, during the 17th Convocation and Certificate Award Ceremony of Bartholomew College of Health Technology.
She described the institution as an essential training centre contributing to the state’s drive to increase skilled healthcare workers.
“This college plays a vital role in complementing government efforts to address the shortage of qualified health personnel,” El-Imam said.
She commended the management for maintaining high academic standards and urged them to sustain excellence.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Sa’adatu Kawu, represented by the Director of Tertiary Education, Mrs Sheriffat Giwa, praised the college for consistency in quality teaching and learning. “This institution has proven to be a dependable partner in strengthening our health workforce,” she said.
Earlier, Provost of the College, Bartholomew Owoicho, congratulated the graduating students, estimated at about 400, for their perseverance and discipline.
He advised them to uphold professionalism and ethical conduct as they begin their careers.
“Our expectation is that you will serve communities with compassion, dedication and integrity,” Owoicho said.
The ceremony featured awards to outstanding students and recognition of contributors to the institution’s development.
