KATSINA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s push toward a modern, technology-driven education system gained fresh momentum as the Federal Government commissioned a smart secondary school in Katsina, reinforcing its commitment to future-ready learning.
The Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, alongside Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, inaugurated the Katsina State Smart Model Secondary School, describing it as a transformative investment in human capital.
Alausa said the project reflects the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support state-led innovations in education and reposition Nigeria for global competitiveness.
“This is not just infrastructure—it is a symbol of innovation and opportunity designed to prepare our students for a digital global economy,” he said.
The minister noted that the initiative aligns with the Nigerian Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), which prioritises access, STEMM education, TVET expansion, inclusive learning, and digital governance.
Highlighting recent achievements, he disclosed that over ₦106 billion in UBEC matching grants have been accessed by states, alongside ₦22 billion invested in teacher development, the renovation of over 10,000 classrooms, and the training of nearly one million teachers nationwide.
He added that curriculum reforms are underway, with a revised primary curriculum already in use and a new secondary curriculum set for rollout in the next academic session.
Governor Radda said the project reflects his administration’s belief that education is the foundation of development. Tinubu’s Education Drive Deepens as FG, Katsina Unveil High-Tech Smart School
