KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has renewed its pledge to end the zero-dose immunisation challenge while commending the Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) for supporting vaccination efforts.
Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo made the remarks during a meeting with ZDLH Kano Community of Practice members on Immunisation Budget Accountability.
“By 31st December 2025, our target is to proudly declare Kano State polio-free. To achieve this, we must reach every zero-dose child,” Gwarzo said.
He also praised donors and partners, stressing collaboration with civil society groups.
Muhammad Usman, Chairman of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) Advisory Board, and Dr Musa Muhammad Bello, AHBN ZDLH Kano Focal Person, presented the 2024 Immunisation Budget Accountability Scorecard, supported by Gavi and AFENET.
The report highlights progress, funding gaps, and accountability efforts, including decentralised immunisation monitoring in Kumbotso and Sumaila LGAs.
Gwarzo, who chairs the state immunisation task force, assured that Kano remains committed to eliminating preventable childhood diseases through sustained investments.
