KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Government approves a one-hour reduction in official working hours for civil servants during the 1447AH (2026) Ramadan fasting period.
The directive, contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service and signed by Safiyya Suleiman on Wednesday, takes effect from the start of Ramadan until its conclusion.
Under the new schedule, civil servants will work from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Thursday, while Fridays remain 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“This gesture is in line with the tradition of granting special recognition to the Holy Month of Ramadan,” the circular states, adding that the adjustment enables workers to participate fully in spiritual activities.
The directive is addressed to commissioners, permanent secretaries, heads of agencies, judicial officers and leaders of government-owned entities.
The Head of Civil Service urges workers to use the period to pray for peace and stability in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
