KANO, Nigeria – Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, approves a fresh round of strategic appointments and promotions aimed at reinforcing institutional efficiency and improving public service delivery across the state.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are announced on Monday in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Under the new decisions, Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle assumed office as Acting Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, while Yusuf Mukhtar was promoted to the rank of Permanent Secretary. The governor also appoints Barrister Rahama Malam Alhaji as Provost of the Kano State Anti-Corruption Institute.
In a notable move within the creative sector, celebrated Kannywood actress Aina’u Ade is elevated from Special Assistant to Senior Special Assistant on Kannywood Affairs, in recognition of what the government describes as “exceptional performance and commitment.”
“Matawalle brings decades of administrative expertise, having previously served with distinction in senior civil service roles and in the management of Hajj operations,” Dawakin Tofa says. “His experience is critical to strengthening pilgrims’ welfare administration.”
On Rahama Malam Alhaji’s appointment, the spokesperson describes her as “a seasoned legal professional with strong credentials in litigation, regulatory compliance and institutional management.”
“Her appointment reflects the governor’s determination to entrench integrity, professionalism and accountability in Kano’s anti-corruption framework,” he adds.
Governor Yusuf urges all newly appointed and promoted officials to justify the trust placed in them through transparency, diligence and loyalty to the Kano First Agenda, which prioritises good governance and service to citizens.
