Kano Governor, Abba Yusuf
KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has provided financial aid and relief materials to families of hunters killed in a mob attack in Uromi, as well as survivors of the incident.
Officials on Friday say each bereaved family receives N300,000, while survivors are given N200,000 and food supplies.
The delegation, led by Information Commissioner Abdullahi Waiya, visits affected families in Bunkure Local Government Area.
The intervention follows directives from Governor Abba Yusuf, who had earlier pledged support.
“We appeal for understanding over the delay, as it was not intentional,” Waiya says.
He adds that Kano is urging Edo State to fulfil its compensation promises, noting that bank accounts have been opened for victims’ families.
Authorities also consider long-term support, including education for children of the deceased.
The 16 hunters were attacked while travelling through Uromi, sparking nationwide condemnation.
Community leaders welcome the support and call for justice and accountability.
