KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board begins compulsory medical screening and immunisation for all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj on Monday.
In a statement on Saturday, the Public Relations Officer Sulaiman Dederi says the exercise starts 9 February 2026 at the Pilgrims Camp Clinic in Kano, following inspections at the Hajj Training Centre in Gwarzo.
Director General Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, represented by Director of Propagation Alhaji Murtala Lawan Sani, urges strict compliance.
“Adherence to medical and operational guidelines is essential for a smooth and successful Hajj,” Matawalle says.
The screening includes routine immunisation, comprehensive health checks and pregnancy tests for female pilgrims, in line with Saudi health requirements.
Pilgrims also receive guidance through the ongoing Hajj Induction Course, where officials emphasise proper conduct, ritual compliance and travel discipline.
“Pilgrims must pay close attention to their instructors to fully understand the rites of Hajj,” the board says.
Officials further advise intending pilgrims to comply strictly with flight schedules and remain within their assigned local government groups while in the Holy Land.
Monitoring teams have extended sensitisation visits to Gwarzo and Rimin Gado local government areas as preparations intensify.
