DUTSE, Nigeria – The Jigawa State Government has earmarked N2 billion for disaster response, emergency preparedness and relief interventions in the 2026 fiscal year.
Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Hannafi Yakubu, disclosed this in Dutse on Thursday after defending the agency’s budget before the House Committee on Special Duties.
He said the allocation is intended to strengthen the state’s capacity to respond to floods, fire outbreaks, tanker explosions and other emergencies. “Today, we were before the assembly to defend our 2026 budget, and our budget is pegged at N2 billion for the whole year,” Yakubu said.
He noted that SEMA will review and integrate recommendations from the committee to improve coordination and ensure faster response during crises.
