ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says candidates seeing “No Result Yet” while checking their 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results are mostly underage applicants whose scores remain withheld.
In a statement issued Tuesday, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, states the message reflects policy enforcement—not a technical glitch.
“The ‘No Result Yet’ status does not indicate any system error,” Benjamin says. “It simply shows that results for certain candidates, particularly underage applicants, have not been released.”
JAMB maintains that candidates must be at least 16 years old by 30 September 2026 to qualify for admission, except in strictly defined exceptional cases.
Underage candidates may only proceed if they demonstrate outstanding academic ability, including scoring at least 320 in UTME and achieving 80 per cent in post-examination screening.
“Scoring 320 is not an automatic qualification,” Benjamin says. “Candidates must also excel in subsequent screenings.”
Only candidates who meet these criteria will be shortlisted for further assessment, while others remain ineligible at this stage.
JAMB says the policy was developed with input from parents to ensure fairness and preserve admission integrity.
The clarification follows widespread concern among candidates and parents nationwide, with the board urging calm as the process continues.
