ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for 2026 Direct Entry registration to May 8, in a move aimed at widening access to tertiary education.
The extension, announced by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin on Wednesday, is designed to ensure that no eligible candidate is excluded due to logistical constraints.
To ease registration pressure, the board also approved five additional centres across key institutions, including the University of Ilorin and Bells University of Technology, expanding access points for applicants nationwide.
JAMB said its Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres remain operational, urging candidates to complete their applications promptly.
The board described the decision as part of its broader commitment to inclusive education, particularly in high-demand areas where candidates often face challenges accessing registration facilities.
Education stakeholders say the extension could significantly improve participation rates, especially among applicants in underserved regions.
