ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) releases comprehensive registration guidelines for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), warning candidates to avoid common errors that could jeopardise their applications.
In an advisory issued Sunday, JAMB stresses accuracy from the outset, particularly with National Identification Number (NIN) details. Candidates must text their correct 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 to generate a permanent profile code.
“Once generated, profile codes cannot be changed,” the board warns, noting that biodata is automatically sourced from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
JAMB urges candidates requiring corrections to personal details to resolve them with NIMC before commencing registration. It also cautions against using shared phone numbers or emails, which serve as unique identifiers.
The board outlines common error messages and corrective steps, advising patience and strict adherence to command formats. Registration must occur only at accredited CBT centres, with e-PINs obtained through authorised channels.
Registration opens January 31, 2026, and closes March 8, 2026, giving candidates five weeks to complete the process.
