IMO, Nigeria – The Imo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects connected to kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult-related offences in operations carried out across the state.
Police spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye confirmed the arrests on Friday, noting that the operations were led by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit under ACP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa.
Detectives also apprehended 26-year-old Frank Onyemaechi of Ikeduru after images linked to abductions and killings were found on his phone. A search of his home led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and the arrest of his wife, Chidimma, accused of attempting to hide the weapon.
In another raid, operatives stormed a hideout in Nchoko, Oru East, arresting three alleged NBM members identified as Nkwusi Tochukwu Casmir, Uchenna Ike, and Ikwunna David. The suspects reportedly admitted involvement in several attacks.
Two additional suspects — Okon Uket of Akwa Ibom and Uzoma Ezugo of Ohaji — were arrested in connection with an armed robbery in which a motorist was killed.
Recovered weapons include two AK-47 rifles, three pump-action guns, a locally made pistol, 31 rounds of ammunition, and 37 cartridges.
