Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma
IMO, Nigeria – Imo State accelerates its drive toward uninterrupted electricity supply as fresh power infrastructure equipment arrives in Owerri, reinforcing Governor Hope Uzodimma’s 24-hour power reform agenda.
Government officials confirm on Friday that the delivery includes critical distribution equipment designed to expand network capacity and reduce outages across the capital and neighbouring communities.
“The promise of 24-hour electricity is not a slogan but a carefully sequenced programme already in motion,” says Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic and Creative Media.
He explains that installation begins immediately, following a phased rollout strategy aimed at long-term stability rather than temporary fixes. Officials at the delivery site say the equipment will be deployed to strategic locations identified as bottlenecks in the current distribution network.
According to the state government, residents and business owners already experience longer power supply hours and fewer disruptions, with further improvements expected as installations progress.
Energy analysts say reliable electricity could significantly boost economic activity, healthcare services, education delivery and overall quality of life in the state. “The focus is on sustainable infrastructure investment, not stopgap solutions,” Nwaogwugwu adds.
The government positions the project as a model for subnational electricity reform, linking power reliability to investment attraction and job creation.
Residents in Owerri cautiously welcome the development, saying consistent power would ease business costs and improve daily living if sustained across the state.
