Housing Minister Ahmed Musa Dangiwa
ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development declares 2026 a decisive year for completing all ongoing housing initiatives, with renewed emphasis on the flagship Renewed Hope Housing Projects aimed at expanding access to affordable homes.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, made the declaration on Friday in Abuja while addressing staff of the ministry, urging them to consolidate existing gains and intensify efforts to deliver results.
Dangiwa describes the coming year as pivotal to the administration’s housing agenda, stressing that project completion will define the ministry’s contribution to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision.
“2026 is our defining, decisive year,” the minister says. “It is the year we must complete what we have started and firmly establish our legacy in the housing sector.”
He explains that successful delivery of the Renewed Hope Housing Projects will reinforce the federal government’s commitment to providing decent and affordable housing for Nigerians, particularly low- and middle-income earners.
The minister calls on ministry staff to build on milestones already achieved, noting that sustained dedication and timely execution are essential to addressing Nigeria’s long-standing housing deficit.
According to Dangiwa, the focus on completion aligns with broader national objectives, including job creation, economic stimulation and improved living standards through increased construction activity.
He adds that housing delivery remains a key driver of economic growth, with ripple effects across building materials, labour and allied industries.
The ministry says it will prioritise efficiency, accountability and coordination to ensure that projects underway across the country are delivered within schedule.
By centering its 2026 agenda on completion rather than new rollouts, the ministry aims to translate policy promises into visible outcomes that directly impact citizens and strengthen public confidence in government programmes.
