LAGOS, Nigeria – Alhaja Lateefat Gbajabiamila, mother of the Chief of Staff to the President, launches a ₦2.5 billion development fund for nursing education as she receives an honorary doctorate from Summit University, Offa.
The 96-year-old philanthropist is awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Science (Business Administration) in recognition of her lifelong service, principled leadership and commitment to humanity.
Speaking at the ceremony on Saturday, Ansarul Deen Society of Nigeria President, Musedeeq Adeniji-Kazeem, described the honour as a celebration of values and legacy.
“This award reflects a life lived for humanity and impact,” he says.
The event also marks the formal launch of the Lateefat Gbajabiamila College of Nursing Development Fund, aimed at strengthening nursing education and healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
Chairman of the university’s Governing Council, Alhaji Rafiu Adisa, praises the Gbajabiamila family for its longstanding contributions to national development.
In an emotional acceptance speech, Alhaja Gbajabiamila dedicates the honour to God, her late husband and her family.
“This college is my prayer made visible,” she says. “It will train young men and women to heal, lead and serve with compassion.”
Her son, Femi Gbajabiamila, announces a personal donation of ₦200 million, drawing applause as other guests pledge support.
