ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the launch of its Operation Go Cashless initiative in partnership with Paystack, introducing mandatory electronic payments at key airports from 29 September 2025.
The scheme will begin at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport before expanding nationwide.
In a statement on Friday, FAAN said the initiative will eliminate cash transactions at access gates, car parks, and VIP lounges. “This transition is designed to improve operational efficiency, ensure greater transparency in revenue collection, and enhance customer convenience,” the authority explained.
To ensure smooth adoption, trained brand ambassadors will be stationed at gates and terminals to assist passengers. Travellers can also obtain and activate the FAAN Go Cashless Card at designated locations in Lagos and Abuja or register via gocashless.faan.gov.ng.
FAAN said the move represents a major step towards modernising Nigeria’s airport operations, with wider deployment across regional airports planned.
“This is a significant step toward modernising airport transactions nationwide,” the authority stated.
