ABUJA, Nigeria – The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it will begin supplying 50 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily to the domestic market starting in December 2025, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s quest for energy security.
In a statement on Monday, the refinery pledged to deliver 1.5 billion litres per month, with output expected to rise to 1.7 billion litres per month—equivalent to 57 million litres daily—by February 2026.
The facility said the decision aims to reassure Nigerians of stable fuel supply and eliminate uncertainties around availability and pricing. To promote transparency, the refinery has requested the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to deploy officials to validate and publicly publish daily production and stock levels.
In a letter dated November 30, 2025, refinery CEO David Bird appealed for expedited clearance of crude oil cargoes and refined product lifting. He said delays in vessel processing at ports have negatively affected operations.
“We confirm our readiness and capacity to supply Nigeria’s domestic PMS requirement. Dangote Refinery will deliver 1.5 billion litres monthly in December and January, rising to 1.7 billion litres from February 2026,” Bird wrote.
He added: “We seek your support in allowing NMDPRA officials to validate and publish our daily supply volumes. In the spirit of transparency, we are willing to make our figures public through both online and print platforms.”
The refinery emphasised that it remains committed to stabilising Nigeria’s fuel supply chain, strengthening the “Nigeria First” policy and advancing national energy independence.
