ABUJA, Nigeria – A Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday orders the arrest of five alleged terror collaborators linked to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji after they fail to appear for trial.
Justice Emeka Nwite issues bench warrants against Musa Kamarawa, Abubakar Hashimu (Doctor), Samuel Chinedu and Lucky Chukwuma, marking a fresh twist in one of Nigeria’s most high-profile terrorism prosecutions.
The suspects are accused of providing logistical, medical and financial support to armed groups operating across Zamfara, Sokoto and Kaduna states.
Defence counsel A.M. Lukman tells the court he is “surprised” by his clients’ absence, claiming he had earlier confirmed their attendance. Prosecutor David Kaswe immediately requests arrest warrants, which the court grants.
Justice Nwite adjourned the case to 24 February 2026.
Federal prosecutors charge eight defendants in an 11-count terrorism indictment filed in December 2024, alleging sustained material support to terrorist networks. Bello Turji, the principal suspect, remains at large.
Court filings allege the suspects supplied illicit drugs, food, construction materials and military uniforms, and facilitated the purchase of a military gun truck from Libya in 2021 for ₦28.5 million.
Another charge accuses three defendants of providing medical treatment to Turji in 2018 following an attack on Tungar Kolo village.
