ILORIN, Nigeria – The Nigerian Army records fresh gains against terrorists in Kwara State, neutralising fighters and rescuing kidnap victims under Operation Igbo Danu (Forest Flush).
Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, supported by the Office of the National Security Adviser, conduct sustained offensives between January 23 and 29, according to Army spokesperson Captain Maureen Ogbuka.
Soldiers clear Garin Dandi in Ifelodun Local Government Area, described as a major bandit enclave, destroying camps and crippling supply networks. “Several terrorists are neutralised, while others flee with gunshot wounds,” the army says.
The operation also leads to arrests of suspected collaborators and the rescue of abducted civilians. The army urges residents to provide credible intelligence, noting that some bandits receive local support.
Security analysts say the offensive underscores a renewed push to dismantle terror networks in Nigeria’s North-Central region.
