ABUJA, Nigeria – The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration with the Port Authority Police Command, describing cooperation as crucial to maintaining security and efficiency at Nigeria’s busiest seaport.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, said, “Apapa Port is one of the major sources of government revenue, and we recognise the vital role of the Police in maintaining law and order within this environment.”
He added, “My predecessor enjoyed a cordial relationship with your Command, and I intend to sustain and strengthen that bond. When we foster synergy at the leadership level, it positively influences our officers and inspires them to pursue shared goals.”
The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, CP Toyin Abaniloja, and her team, which sought to strengthen operational coordination between the two agencies.
Responding, CP Abaniloja said, “It’s a privilege to be here. The Apapa Port is critical to national development, and its security must not be compromised. My team is always on high alert and ready to respond whenever our support is needed.”
The NCS noted that sustained collaboration between both agencies is essential for seamless port operations, revenue protection, and enhanced national security.
