LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Security Trust Fund has donated operational vehicles, bulletproof vests and protective helmets to the Lagos State Police Command to strengthen crime-fighting operations across Lagos.
The donation was unveiled during a presentation ceremony in Lagos attended by senior security officials, including LSSTF Executive Secretary, Ayodele Ogunsan, and Lagos Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh.
Officials say the equipment will improve police mobility, officer safety and emergency response capabilities in tackling armed robbery, kidnapping, cult-related violence and other criminal activities.
“This donation of operational vehicles, bulletproof vests and helmets is part of our continuous efforts to strengthen the capacity of the Lagos State Police Command and enhance security across the state,” Ogunsan said.
He stressed that Lagos, with a population exceeding 20 million people, requires sustained investment in modern security infrastructure to maintain public safety and support economic growth.
Ogunsan also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, private sector stakeholders and security agencies in sustaining crime prevention efforts in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
Receiving the equipment, Jimoh described the intervention as timely and strategic.
“These operational vehicles and protective gear will significantly enhance our mobility, improve officer safety and strengthen our ability to respond swiftly to security challenges,” the police commissioner said.
He assured residents that the command would deploy the equipment effectively to protect lives and property across communities in the state.
Established in 2007, the LSSTF operates as a public-private partnership supporting security agencies with patrol vehicles, communication gadgets, surveillance tools and other operational resources.
