ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) arrests two candidates and a parent for allegedly falsifying 2026 UTME results using artificial intelligence tools.
JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin says the suspects manipulate official SMS notifications to alter scores.
“Two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI,” he states.
The board describes the act as a serious criminal offence and vows prosecution.
“Such misconduct will attract the full weight of the law,” Benjamin adds.
JAMB releases results for 632,788 candidates and warns against tampering with official SMS platforms 55019 and 66019.
Candidates are advised to check results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS using their registered phone numbers.
The board clarifies that result slip printing will be available later through its portal at a fee.
JAMB urges candidates to avoid unofficial platforms and scams.
“Use only official channels to access your results,” Benjamin says.
The UTME continues nationwide, with results released in batches as the examination progresses.
