ILE-IFE, Nigeria – Students of Obafemi Awolowo University announce a 72-hour lecture boycott over worsening transport challenges on campus.
The protest, scheduled from April 14 to 16, follows a congress decision by the Students’ Union.
Union leaders Adelani David and Habeeb Oke say the action reflects growing frustration.
“Students face overcrowding, long waits and limited routes,” the statement says.
Those living off campus are hardest hit, with rising transport costs and fewer options.
The crisis follows the introduction of buses and tricycles linked to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, which students say has worsened peak-hour congestion.
The union demands more vehicles, a temporary return to the previous system and inclusion in transport decisions.
University authorities describe the situation as temporary, promising improvements.
Students warn further protests may follow if conditions do not improve.
