ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) arrests a 93-year-old man and a 69-year-old doctor in a sweeping anti-drug operation spanning multiple states.
Agency spokesperson Femi Babafemi on Sunday says the crackdown dismantles major trafficking networks and seizes large quantities of illicit drugs.
In Abia, 93-year-old Friday Ahukanna Chigbu was arrested with 7.7kg of cannabis.
At Kano airport, an Ivorian suspect is intercepted with cocaine, leading to the arrest of Chudi Daniel Ofomata in Ogun State.
Other operations uncover drugs in Lagos, Edo, Niger and Borno, including codeine syrup and Rohypnol.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commended officers for their efforts.
“We remain committed to dismantling drug networks and reducing supply and demand,” he says.
The agency reiterates its dual strategy of enforcement and prevention under its anti-drug campaign.
