Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi
LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State government announces temporary road closures across key routes ahead of major infrastructure commissioning events scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Tuesday says the restrictions are necessary to ensure safety and smooth execution of the ceremonies.
Authorities confirm that the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge will be commissioned on Wednesday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., affecting traffic across Opebi, Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota corridors.
“All motorists should seek alternative routes to avoid congestion,” Osiyemi says.
On Thursday, traffic disruptions will extend to Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas during the commissioning of the Tolu Schools Complex within the same morning timeframe.
Later in the day, additional restrictions will affect Eko Hotel and surrounding parts of Victoria Island from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The government advises motorists to plan journeys in advance and allow extra travel time.
Officials from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic and assist commuters.
The state earlier deploys 500 additional traffic officers ahead of the events, which will be attended by President Bola Tinubu.
Authorities urge residents to comply with traffic directives to minimise disruption and ensure smooth vehicular movement during the commissioning period.
